[NEWS] DL2 is coming soon…

November 13th, 2020 – Dean Lewis came back on Instagram to reveal just a little bit of what he’s doing right now for his new upcoming album.

Dean Lewis appeared on his Instagram story this Friday, to tease us a little bit.

He publicly answered a fan saying that the Aussie singer-songwriter was gone for so long.

Dean Lewis answered:

“I know – it’s like how you crouch down a little before you jump! Things are in motion! It’s going to be worth it, not just another song to keep momentum!…”

As far as we understand, he’s working on having the album completely done so he can focus on other stuff later on. Can we assume a tour?

“It’s gotta be the best thing I could possibly make! It has to be better than my last stuff!”

His “last stuff” it’s the award winning album A Place We Knew and the smashing hits Be Alright and Waves. Just to give you an idea: the album has been certified double platinum in Australia and Norway, Platinum in Malaysia, Gold in Canada and Silver in the U.K.. While it’s big hit Be Alright has gained at least 13 certifications all over the world, it’s 10 times platinum in Australia, and another song from his album, the ballad Half a Man has now more than 100 million streams on Spotify and has been certified Gold in Australia and Canada. Also, his album A Place We Knew has been awarded as Album of the Year at the ARIA Awards 2019.

Not bad as “last stuff”.

“But I’m back soon and my plan is blow you all away! So that the music hits you so hard and it’s unlike anything you’ve heard before! I can’t wait for you guys to hear it, my best songs x 10000 —”

I don’t know about you, but this sounds more like a threat than a promise.

I know - it's like how you crouch down alittle before you jump! Things are in motion! it's going to be worth it, not just another song to keep momentum! It's gotta be the best thing I could possibly make! It has to be Better than my last stuff! But I'm back soon and my plan is blow you all away! “Also we are in the studio making acoustic versions of the new songs! We could save so much time by just ripping the lead vocal off the main songs and playing piano over it but I’m an idiot so we are recording new alternate versions and re-singing from scratch to also try and blow you all away! Can’t wait for everyone to say “I like the acoustic version better” I have no doubt.”

Dean Lewis is no new to acoustic versions: he released his first EP Same Kind of Different also as an acoustic version, plus all his singles from debut album A Place We Knew, and the title track, got their acoustic version. We are still missing the 7 Minutes‘ one from Spotify, but it’s on YouTube and the acoustic version of A Place We Knew is available on the Target edition of the debut album. Also, engaging with his fans he revealed that he had recorded an acoustic version of Straight Back Down, but it never got release.
